It's a calm round for the golfers
MORE than £5,000 has been raised by golfers for a children's cancer charity.
The money was made at the annual Wrag Barn Golf Course Charity Tournament, which attracted 124 participants including Swindon Mayor David Cox who teed off the afternoon's play.
The proceeds will be given to Swindon-based charity CALM, which supports children with cancer and their families.
Chairman of the charity Don Macarthur said: "We are delighted.
"This money will go a long way to help our work with local families and to provide the support they need at such a difficult time."
The winning team was The Gamblers from Llantrisant, Wales, who won the oppor-tunity to play golf at The Belfry.
Local businesses donated raffle prizes, including a signed rugby shirt from the British Lions team,
The event was deemed such a success, next year's has already been set for June 20. It will be sponsored again by the De Vere hotel.
