Teeing off for annual fundraiser

A CANCER charity will be teeing off with its annual Golf Day in June.

CALM, the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement, is inviting support from individual golfers and the business community.

The event will be held at the Wrag Barn Course on Thurs-day, June 21. Teams of four players are invited to an 18-hole Stableford competition in the afternoon and a nine-hole Texas Scramble event in the morning.

The De Vere Hotel group, main sponsor of the day, is providing the winners with a round of golf and lunch at the famous Belfry golf course in the West Midlands.

There will be a series of smaller events, including target golf, offering prize-winning opportunities for men and women golfers.

The charity is hoping to attract as many women's teams as possible this year.

Last year's Golf Day raised more than £4,000 for CALM, a Swindon charity run entirely by volunteers which specialises in supporting the entire family both during and after treatment for cancer.
