Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from CALM
It's been another busy year for the Swindon Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement (CALM).
We've enjoyed a number of family get togethers, including a coach trip to the West Midlands Safari Park, a tour of the military base at Middle Wallop, and a trip to see Shrek in the West End.
We also attended the Christmas Panto at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, and more than 30 children took part in our annual Christmas Party at the Masonic Lodge in Old Town.
During the year families looking after children undergoing cancer treatment have been able to enjoy a holiday break away from the stresses and strains off hospital visits for chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Dozens of people and organisations have helped fundraise to ensure CALM can continue to support families who have a child that has been diagnosed with a form of cancer or leukaemia.
There have been head shaves, sponsored swims, half-marathons, raffles, bucket collections, cycle rides, quiz nights, a golf day, supermarket bag packing and even a sponsored Wii Olympics.
Some of the fundraising events can be seen by clicking: http://www.justgiving.com/calmtrust/
There has been support from businesses and organisations including: The Rotary Club, White Stuff, XXIV Squadron (RAF Lyneham & RAF Brize Norton), Openworks, Aldi, BMW and many more.
On behalf of the CALM Committee, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's donated to the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement in 2011.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Richard Crowley, CALM Chairman
