Grand gesture from Arval
The Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement (CALM) has received more than £1,000 after staff at the Swindon based fleet management company Arval held a dress-down Friday.
Organised by Alex Marshall, workers at the Windmill Hill Business Park had to pay for the privilege of turning up to work in their jeans for the day. Alex also sold cakes made by his mum and aunt, and put on other fundraising events to raise a fantastic total of £1,131.
Alex nominated CALM to benefit from the monthly dress-down Friday, with the Arval Cares Community Fund supporting his fundraising efforts. The company also made a financial contribution, and donated a prize for a CALM raffle draw.
CALM Chairman Richard Crowley said: "Alex really threw himself into the event, and to raise more than £1,000 in a day is quite phenomenal. Alex knew of CALM trough a family connection, and I'm grateful for his and Arval's fantastic efforts."
