CALM says thanks for support

I would like to thank the people of Swindon and the surrounding area for their continued support for CALM, the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Movement, most recently shown in the £1,863 raised in just two days of local collecting.

This local charity is run on a totally voluntary basis by the parents of current and former patients, so we especially rely on the generosity of the community to enable us to continue our support.

Ever since 1984, CALM has been providing a much needed service to all local families who receive the devastating news that their child has cancer or leukaemia, supporting about 15 very brave children at any one time and giving emotional and practical help to their parents, brothers and sisters, as well as to the families of recent former patients.

We are planning a series of special events for 2003 to mark our 20th anniversary. Details will be on our website www.calmcharity. org in due course.

Readers who wish to find out more or to get involved are welcome to ring our secretary on 01672 841098 or email us at [email protected]
